In Sir Ken’s interview he did an interview about his ted talk: do schools kill creativity? Sir Ken’s main view on what Education should be is that it should be about people and people are different. The 11 plus exam kids who went through that would most likely go to school and if you did not you would do manual labor. The exam was a person’s ticket to the middle class. What is different now between technology and education is that technology has been faster than it’s ever been before and this is accelerating people’s lives and this is causing more people to live because technology has helped ways for us to live. It’s not the technology that is the problem here, it’s that the rate is going very rapidly and this may cause catastrophic events in the near future. People are confused on how we haven’t moved on from the industrialized school system. However this is because schools were originally designed to mirror the workforce environment because it was a professional net. It is a very efficient model because the school system is run by placing groups of kids in the same age range and having them go through the different levels of school based on age which creates a very organized system of learning in society. One example is that schools are organized into subjects when life isn’t divided like that. They want to create a sense of order and prepare students to be organized. He also points out how only relying on technology is not a good reliable source of education. Kids need to be able to connect with other students and make connections to grow as humans because that is how we are designed. I do want to incorporate creativity in education because students need to be inspired. Kids need to work with others and work with physical objects to put their capabilities to good use.
